shorehugger is a small lifestyle brand. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you visit shorehugger.com, sign up for the newsletter, follow us on social media, fill out a survey, or interact with us in any way.

Short version: I collect as little as I can, I don't monetize information, and I'd rather lose a sale than be weird about your data.

What I collect

Only what's needed to do the thing you came here to do.

If you sign up for the newsletter, I keep your email address and (if you give it) your first name. That's it. No tracking pixels.

If you book a live session (or any future paid offering), I keep your name, email, phone if you share it, what we talk about on calls, and the playbook or materials I write for you. Payment is handled by Stripe — I never see or store your card number.

If you fill out a survey or feedback form, I keep your answers. If the form is anonymous, it stays anonymous. If you put your name on it, I'll know it's you.

If you visit the website, Squarespace records the basics most websites record — pages viewed, rough location (country / region), browser type, how you got here. This is aggregated, not stitched together to identify you personally.

If you buy something from the shop, I keep your name, shipping address, email, and what you ordered.

If you follow, comment, or message me on social media (Instagram, TikTok, Substack Notes, or anywhere else shorehugger shows up), the platform holds that data under its own terms — I can only see what the platform shows me. When you DM me directly, I keep the conversation the way any person keeps the messages people send them.

I don't use cookies beyond what Squarespace needs to make the site work and what Stripe needs to process a payment. No advertising trackers. No Facebook pixel. No session replay.

What I do with it

  • Send the newsletter you asked for

  • Run our calls and write your materials

  • Ship your order

  • Answer your emails and messages

  • Learn from survey responses (in aggregate — I won't quote you by name without asking)

  • Keep tax and accounting records the law requires me to keep

  • Other types of activities you’d expect

I do not sell your information. I do not rent it. I do not trade it. I do not share it with advertisers. I do not use it to train AI models — not mine, not anyone else's. (The brand exists in part as a counterweight to that whole machine; it would be strange to feed it.)

The small handful of services I rely on

Running shorehugger means a few trusted tools see your data because they have to:

  • Squarespace — hosts the website

  • Substack — sends the newsletter (if you've subscribed)

  • Stripe — processes payments

  • Google Workspace — email, calendar, and (for some forms) the survey itself

  • Notion — where I keep client notes and draft playbooks

  • Claude — I use Claude (by Anthropic) as a writing and thinking assistant; it does not store or retain any customer data

  • Instagram, TikTok, and other social platforms — where shorehugger posts and where you can follow, comment, or message; each platform sets its own terms for the data it collects from you

Each of these has its own privacy policy. I pick them carefully and I keep the list short on purpose. If I ever add a major new one, I'll update this page.

How long I keep things

  • Newsletter list: until you unsubscribe (one click at the bottom of any email)

  • Client records and playbooks: until they stop being useful, then archived or deleted

  • Survey responses: until they stop being useful, then archived or deleted

  • Shop orders: until they stop being useful, then archived or deleted

  • Email threads: until they stop being useful, then archived or deleted

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask me to:

  • Show you what I have on you

  • Correct anything that's wrong

  • Delete it

  • Stop using it for a particular purpose

  • Send you a copy in a portable format

Email shorehugger.co@gmail.com and we'll handle it. No fee, no friction, no "are you sure?" loop. If you're in California, the EU, the UK, or Canada you have specific named rights under CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, UK GDPR, and PIPEDA respectively — they're all covered by the list above.

If you're under 16, please don't sign up for anything here without a parent's okay. shorehugger isn't built for kids and I don't knowingly collect data from them.

Security

Your information lives in the accounts named above, each protected with strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and the security their platforms provide. No system is perfect. If something ever goes wrong in a way that affects you, I'll tell you directly and quickly.

Changes to this policy

If this page changes in a meaningful way, I'll update the date at the top and — for anything material — send a note to the newsletter list. Small wording fixes won't get an announcement.
